French and Spanish Tutor
Hello, I'm Sue. I'm originally from London, but have lived in Oxford over 30 years. I have worked as a teacher of languages and editor of language teaching materials. I also run guided tours of Oxford. I have three grown-up children all studying at University.
I have been tutoring Spanish and French for many years. I teach all levels and all ages, including beginners, GCSE, IGCSE, A Level, primary French, Common Entrance, as well as French and Spanish conversation and lessons for adult beginners and for those travelling for business or holiday.
I am familiar with all the exam boards. My students include those of all abilities, including those with dyslexia. I adapt my lessons according to the needs of each student.
I aim to build confidence in all my students and for those studying for an exam, help them prepare for all aspects of the exam and achieve their full potential.
For my young pupils, I use games and songs to make the learning fun and instil a love of the language.
I have a Modern Language degree in French and Spanish from Cambridge University and am a fully qualified teacher with a PGCE (secondary school) from the Institute of Education, University of London. I am DBS checked.
I usually teach from my home in Headington, Oxford but sometimes will travel to students' homes. I also teach online via Skype.
I am friendly and flexible with days and timings.
My availability is during the day and after school. I also teach at weekends and during the holidays.
Prices are from £37/hour.

"Sue understands kids: she was incredibly flexible with times of lessons, and was always calm with an unpredictable stressed teenager. She knew exactly what the examination board wanted and presented the information in manageable chunks. Despite the focus on the exam she still conveyed a real interest in the language and how to use it in everyday life."
"I had Sue as tutor for my Spanish IGCSE course and she completely turned around Spanish for me. I became more confident in the subject, learned a huge amount for each section of the syllabus and went into my exams feeling prepared for whatever came up."
"Sue (Mushin) taught me for the whole school year leading up to my French GCSE. She was really helpful, especially with my spoken exam, which I was really worried about. It helped to have time to just talk to someone in French and to ask questions I didn't get around to asking in school. I really enjoyed my lessons. She always taught me things that were relevant to what I was doing in school at the time, and let me take things at my own pace. I was really pleased to get a 9 in my GCSE! I am now doing A Level French and I'm going to go back to Sue for some A Level tuition."
